A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible.

This is amazing and brought tears of laughter to my eyes.

I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says,'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as longas he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.

Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.

Jesus also had twelve opossums.

The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

God Loves Diversity

God loves diversity . . . just look at His creation. Look at an autumn mountainside awash with countless colors. Look at the contrasting community of creatures that reside on a coral reef. Look at the various views that are constantly projected across the sky with its shape-shifting clouds. Look at the church comprised of people of all ages, all races, all cultures, all backgrounds, and all personalities.

But these differences pale in comparison to the diversity that we witness when it comes to the Holy Spirit. He can relate with, connect to, and work in anyone. Nobody is beyond His ability. He can do anything with anyone. He can take a drug addict and turn him or her into a worship leader. He can transform a lifelong introvert into an outspoken evangelist. He can break the hardest heart and soften it into one that constantly weeps and intercedes for the lost.

He can make a fool wise, a miser generous, and a know-it-all humble. He imparts a variety of spiritual gifts and accomplishes incalculable miracles. He can do it all, and more, because He possesses a divine diversity that is beyond comparison and comprehension.

It's important that we understand this because we're often guilty of limiting the power of God's Spirit. Perhaps we feel that He could never reach a certain type of person or that we're outside of His jurisdiction. These thoughts are inaccurate and damaging to our spiritual walk. The Creator is greater than His creation in every respect, especially when it comes to diversity.

The Names of God

THE NAMES OF GOD are the titles or designations revealed about God throughout the Bible. In the ancient world, knowing another’s name was a special privilege that offered access to that person’s thought and life. God favors His people by revealing Himself in the many names that offer special insight into His love and righteousness.

Jehovah/Yahweh. One of the most important names for God in the Old Testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah, from the verb “to be,” meaning simply but profoundly, “He Is.” His full name is found only in Ex. 3:14 and means “I am who I am” or “I will be who I will be.” The four-letter Hebrew word YHWH was the name by which God revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush (Ex. 3:14). This bush was a vivid symbol of the inexhaustible power of God who burns like a fire with love and righteousness, yet remains the same and never diminishes. Some English translations of the Bible vocalize the word as Jehovah, while others use Yahweh.

My heavenly Father has not made it difficult to become His child, but walking in my rights as His son/daughter is another matter all together.

Operating in the priciples of the kingdom of heaven takes tremendous effort on my part. I must strive, struggle, fight and force my way through the narrow passage that leads to its blessings.

My eyes are ever-focused on Jesus. I do all things in the manner in which He has both commanded and shown me by His example.

It makes no difference where I was born, what my race is, how many times I've prayed or how many times I've read my Bible...if I do not operate in the principles of the kingdom in the way that Jesus has commanded, I will not walk in its blessings.

All of the things of God, including being saved and walking in His blessings must be done His way. Therefore, I choose to be a doer of the Word and an operator of the principles He has commanded me to walk in.

Through hard work, tenacity, perseverance, constancy and faithfulness, I have become one of the many who sit down and feast at the Lord's table in the kingdom of God.

Water Baptism in St. Petersburg

Recently, I was privileged to baptize several people. There were three young people among them. God was smiling from heaven as we descended into the lake very early in the morning, singing and praising Him for the fruits of the harvest.

It was such a joy to see Natasha making this step forward in faith. She was invited by Abisag to our Children’s Church when she was 9 years old. Later, she gave her heart to Jesus and has been faithful to the Lord since then. Now she is 21 and goes to college. She is the only one in her family who attends church.

Equipping Leaders Seminar

In our efforts to equip those who are serving God as pastors and assistant pastors, this year the Lord blessed us with such gifted ministers as Victor Pagan, the South American field director; Rudy Giron, the director of Hispanic Educational Ministries in the U.S.; and Carlos and Diana Labra, a district overseer and pastor from the Miami area. God used them in a really powerful way.

Urgent Prayer Request

Please add Billy McKinnon and his family to the list. Billy is a strong christian disciple who was involved in a head-on collision when the parents of twins crossed the medium in their car last Thursday night near Paducha, KY, and hit Billy head on. It killed the parents and severely injured the twins. Billy, through the grace of God, was badly shaken and bruised and is still moving slowly, but is expected to recover fully. We are all in prayer for Billy and his family, as well as the twins who are still in critical care I believe.

Ten Reasons to Hope When You're Hurting

1. God is truly in control.
If God is God, then nothing happens apart from His knowledge and permission. While it is difficult to imagine why God allows some painful things to happen, His character, revealed in the Bible and through the testing of generations, leads us to the conclusion that He is willing and able to sustain you during the worst of times. "We were crushed and completely overwhelmed, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we learned not to rely on ourselves, but on God who can raise the dead." (2 Corinthians 1:8,9)


2. There is an eternal life to come.
"Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the Glory He will give us later." (Romans 8:18) "He will keep you strong right up to the end, and He will keep you free from all blame on the great day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns." (1 Corinthians 1:8)


3. The story isn't finished yet.
Time after time, the Bible records hopeless situations that ultimately ended in victory. Think of Job's Sickness, Joseph's betrayal by his brothers, David's adultery and the many who were healed in mind, Body and spirit. "But Joseph told them, 'Don't be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you? As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil. He brought me to the high position I have today so I could save the lives of many people.'" (Genesis 50:19,20)


4. God has not given up on you! Don't give up on Him.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)


5. There is likely purpose in your pain.
Ask God to reveal His purpose in allowing this difficulty in your life. That's a legitimate question to ask. Often, the answer comes in the process of dealing with your circumstance. "Dear brothers and Sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when Your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for When your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything." (James 1:2-4)


6. You are loved!
Even the most unlovable person in the world is actually loved so much by God, that He let His Son die a terrible death to restore their relationship. God does love you! He sees your pain and weeps with you. "He has sent Me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent Me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, He will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the Lord has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for His own glory." (Isaiah 61:1-3)


7. Your prayers are heard.
"You parents - if your children ask you for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him?" (Matt. 7:9,10)


8. You are not facing this alone.
"For God himself has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never forsake you.' That is why we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to Me?''" Hebrews 13:5-6)


9. Others have made it through - you can too.
Try to connect with others who have gone through similar situations. You will find hope, strength and encouragement. "A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12)


10. Reach out to someone else who's struggling.
Place your focus on someone else and invest your life in him or her. You may discover that your peace of mind is found in being a source of hope for another. "All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the Same comfort God has given us." (2 Corinthians 1:3,4)

I give strength to those with feeble hands and hold steady those whose knees are giving way. I am a steadfast source of encouragement to those who are afraid of an evil report. I say to those who are terrified, "Be strong and take courage because God is on your side!" he loves you and will come to your aid with a vengeance and divine intervention. He will not forsake you. Because of His great love for you, He will deliver you."

Because of this, the blind eyes are opened, deaf ears are unstopped, the lame go walking and leaping and praising God, the mute tongue shouts for joy, waters of life gush forth in the middle of the wilderness and nourishment flows into the desert land. The burning sand becomes like a pool and the cracked earth is fed with springs of fresh water. Where devils once ran rampant, God's blessings now overflow.

A highway called The Way of Holiness is with me, and those who love the Word flock to it. Satan and his swarms look at it and flee in terror, for we who walk in the way are redeemed and translated into a new kingdom. We enter that kingdom with singing and everlasting joy crowns our heads. Happiness and joy overtake us and sorrow and sighing flee from us.

Returning to Ukraine

We have just booked tickets for a return trip to Ukraine where we will minister in Slavyansk, Alexandria, Kerch and Bila Tservka.

This is my first trip back since suffering two broken feet and multiple surgeries in 2008 as well as the loss of my spiritual mentor and Dad, so I am dedicating this trip to Dad. I know God has sent His angels before us to prepare the way for great things to be accomplished in His name knowing He will receive the glory for it all.
