Run to Him

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed." (Psalm 57:1)

I get so tickled at my little mini-Dachshund, Buddy.  Although he's been with us for a little over 7 years now, he still runs to "Mama" for cover every time my husband or son come after him for whatever reason.  The other night I was sitting in my favorite chair, and Bailey wanted Buddy to keep him company in his room.  Since I had just been home a short time Buddy had not yet had his fill of "Mama" time so he was not interested in going with Bailey.  Bailey ran him around the family room a couple of times before Buddy was able to leap into my chair.  When he did he immediately hunkered down just as close to me as he could possibly get - trying to hide under me.  I couldn't bear to let Bailey take him after Buddy had appealed to my strength to shelter him.

It's the same way when our human helplessness appeals to Almighty God.  I remember all too well when the enemy was chasing hard after my soul, until, at last, I ran straight into the arms of Almighty God."

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5:6)
