Monday's Musing

Well, I didn't think I would be able to make an entry every day since I go back to the work place this morning, but shortly after 2:00 this morning my eyes popped open, and the wheels in my brain began to turn at an alarming speed.  Since I couldn't seem to stop those wheels regardless of what I counted, how many deep breaths I took or which way I flipped and flopped - I finally gave up at 4:03 and pulled my aching body out of bed then stopped in here at the computer.  I've now read my email, answered a few, did my tweeting and wished several friends "Happy Birthday" ... and it's only 4:33!

I found out I have a new friend out in Washington state.  He read my blog last Friday and sent me a very kind message along with a link to his website.  You should check it out if you get a chance.  It's http://www.calledintowork.com .  It's great, and I fully intend to purchase his latest book: JOB-SHADOWING DANIEL: WALKING THE TALK AT WORK.  There's a link to purchase it on his site, and I'm sure he would be delighted if you chose to purchase it as well.  Looks like a great read not to mention a resource of timely information!!  Thank you, Larry!

I ran across this familiar story of The Two Frogs this morning, and thought I'd share it with you.  I've read it before.  You probably have, too, but it's worth a second look.  Hope you guys have a great week, are blessed beyond measure and keep me in your prayers.

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them
fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit
was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The
two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit
with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop,
that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took
heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down
and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again,
the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He
jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the
other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to
them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the
entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:
1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging
word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it
through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes
to kill them.

Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your
path. The power of words… it is sometimes hard to understand
that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak
words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in
difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time
to encourage another.
